Works Ahead 2017

Annual new performance sampler.

Presented by Word of Warning, Contact + STUN

Thursday 11 + Friday 12 May 2017, 7.30pm

Home + hearth, trust + trickery, science + sensuality…
From the very edges of deception to the comfort blanket of the home-cooked, outer space to inner turmoil, our annual sampler of new performance brings two nights, two venues, three new works in development:

at Contact: 7.30pm. £7/4 each night ‡

My Father’s Kitchen — Toni-Dee Paul
Food, family, memories and the meaning of ‘home’.
Someone Loves You Drive With Care — Tom Cassani
A deceptive exposé of deception itself.

at STUN Studio at Z-arts: 7.30pm. £7/4 each night ‡

Superposition — Chanje Kunda
Science, sensuality, spirituality, self…
(NB Jamil Keating’s Asteroid RK1 will no longer appear.)

Now that it’s over, read a review of Superposition by Afronalysis.

‡ See both nights for £13/7: book a ticket for each venue on a different night.

What people have said about Works Ahead

Maybe not what you’d regard as traditional ‘theatre’, but compelling nonetheless …make you think that anything could happen in the performance space.
QuietManDave (2016 review)
Great to see new work by younger artists.
• Brilliant works in progress, varied and interesting.
• I enjoyed both shows even though they were very different. I look forward to seeing how they develop.
